i recently placed my fry in a new 10gal tank and one by one they died!

i placed 1 female platy in the 10gal and she died within 24hrs!

i had a snail in there, it died!

it is runing with established media, i tested the water and all is fine.

nitrate/nitrite = 0
ammonia = 0
ph = 7.5

why are they dying?????

Did anything get into the tank like household chemicals.
Have you used a bucket to fill the tank that had been used for anything else.

Any signs before death like gasping at the surface, or darting around the tank.

yes the female platy looked like she was breathing heavily compared to the other fish (in my 20gal tank) and she would hang out at the top. Nothing went into the tank chemical wise..
she also was darting up and down on the sides of the tank.

Sounds like you have something nasty in the tank like a chemical.

So you set the 10gal up and everything that went in t he tank has died.
I would strip it down and start again.
Did you declorinate the water.

Is snow melting around your area as you are meant to double dose the declorinater.

i use a declorinateer for the tap water. no chemicals were introduced, i cleaned everything out very well with the cleaning bucket that i use. i don't use soap to rinse it but i do use very hot water and a good rinse.

Can you list how long it took for them all to die.
Only the one female adult guppy showed signs of stress of laboured breathing, and darting around the tank.

Have you been decorating, or using household chemicals near the tank.

within 1 week of placing them in the new tank, they died
the female platy died within 24hrs
the only decorations i used were those small pebbles used for lucky bamboo, they are small smooth river stones, but i removed them and did a water change thinking it was that causing the issue. no chemical house products are used in this room.

If it was your water then it would of killed them fast not a week later.

If she was darting about this is the female guppy and laboured breathing, could be looking at parasites.
How long was it before you got the snail out before he died, as they are toxic to fish when there dead in the tank.

So the snail died first, then the guppy, then all the fry.
How were the fry acting before death.

no, no chemicals were introduced to the tank, the bucket i use is only used for the tanks nothing else.

yes the platy was gasping at the surface and darting around the tank.

should i place the fry in my other tank??

Why is some still alive, thought you lost them all.
No I wouldn't move them worst thing you can do till we know whats going off.
Don't want another tank infected if its parasites or something.

Hows the fry that are left acting?

sorry i have 3 fry left, one is on it's way to death
the other 2 are okay so far, no signs of stress or anything.

Need to start again I'm confused and it dosn't take much to comfuse me.

Can you start from the beginning again.
Saying which went in first in the tank, then how long was it before you added the rest.
In order and time scale when they died.
Symtoms before death.

do yu have MSN by chance, it's hard to explain in here everything lol.

Let me get another member to take a look first and we will go from there.

When did you remove the stones, has there been less deaths since this.
Its still pointing to something leeching from something in the tank to your water source.
Was the female guppy fine before you added her to the tank, no ill health.
