Ok Stupid Question But Its Annoying Me...

Ok so I should have more important things to worry about but is is pronounced 'Better' or 'Beeta' or something totally different?!!

LOL - I've always wondered about that too. I just got into the habit of pronouncing it as "Beeter" - whether that's right or wrong I've no idea I think I kind of assumed it to be that as it's like a letter from the Greek alphabet.

Could be wrong though!

I have always pronounced it Bayta but apparently it is pronounced bĕt'ə.

So I got it wrong. But now my brain won't think of it any other way - and it sounds a bit daft going into a shop asking if they have any "Better" fish - they'll turn round and say "Better than what?" LOL
