Ok so i decided to reward myself today as it was brom and djins 1month birthday yesterday and they got new tanks (gorgouse 5gallons) off my dad  and since i had some spare (not really spare but oh well) cash i decided to go down to work and get a few fish, origionally i planned on getting some stock for the 2ft e.g. cories were what i had in mind.

But after getiing in there and saying hi to everyone i went for a browse as the new orders had just come in. The first thing i spotted was the baby bristlenose plecs the new order came in on wednesday and there must have been only 5 left in the tank so i swiftly told dean i was wanting one of them (the bloomin things are getting hard to find around here) so he swiped me what looks to be, although it's too early to tell a little girl. She's now named delilah and is happily munching the new bogwood in broms swish 5gal untill the 2ft is set-up in about 2 weeks.

Then i wondered about one of the bettas that had been in for a LONG time, he was in the display boxes (don't worry i'll be telling them how awful it is) i'd always liked him so i thought well why not. So he's home, in a heated 14litre bowl (yes i know it sounds bad but it really is the biggest bowl i could get wihout spending £40 for a ginormous one and i will be looking for small filters proberbly a sponge filter in the near future) and he's loving the space.

He's gorgeouse, he's yellow and white with pastel blue in his tail when it catches the light, i've called him Heibai.

I'll be starting a new thread to show the progress of brom and djin :good:

Aw he sounds gorgeous hon! I love shopping sprees, your new BN sounds a cutie too lol! Definately pics we want pics! Hope your new boy poses. In regards to (spare) cash, yep thats me too ;) lol Heibai's colours sound the bomb!

I couldn't resist lol, guess i'll go without beer at Leeds fest tomorro thank god i'm only going for the day in this wheather, it's awful up here.

Now i have 4 bettas, 1 ADF, 9 kuhlie loaches and a BN plec between 4 of my 7 tanks (2 are for QT/Hospital) and i'd already promised myself NO MORE BETTAS before i got him. Not if i want my 4ft cichlid tank and another 2ft (possibly coldwater). He really is my last betta now i just can't fit anymore

cant wait to see him. and you know, there is ALWAYS room for one more betta
cheers

I said that when Enigma arrived, I have now bought a cube 93 litre which will divide into four, my only consolation is that Engima will be in one of the compartments so keeping 4 tanks just increasing their sizes! LOL. I agree there is always room for one more!

Link removed as it can only lead to no good

atleast its not that size

congrats on the new boy..he is lovely! i can honestly say that is one of the nicest fishbowl ive ever seen! nice and wide all around. i know lots of folks here are animately against fishbowls for bettas, but THAT is a nice one! plenty of swimming space and room for filter, etc. well done for giving that little guy a nice proper home :)

Thanks guys i tryed to make it so that he had a nice dense area of plants in the middle so he can hide and some wider swimming space so he can roam about.

I have to say i was worried at first that it wouldn't be good enough but he likes it and it's alot bigger than i first thought, currently working on getting a sponge filter in there :good:

the things with most fishbowls out there is that they are laterally compressed and only are rounded on the "sides" with the front/back being flat. that cuts down on swimming area greatly! that one is rounded all around making it 100% useable space. and you can fit accessories in there like decor heaters and filters without losing much useable space for the fish. i LOVE that bowl! cant find anything like that around here. if i could find a 3 gal. bowl, id opt for that over a rectangular/square tank anyday, where the fish doesnt utilize the corners. wasted space when space is limited.
well done!
did you order the filter or are you gonna make one?
cheers!

I'll be buying one (only £5) when i next get paid.

I actually got the bowl from The range as well as my new 5gals for brom and djin, it has really good prices for anyone in the uk who is interested :good:

The bowl cost me £20 and was the biggest they had the plants were from a previous set up and total about £6 the pebbles in the bottom were free from my mums collection in the garden and the heater was £10. £41 including betta for the bowl set-up and when i have a filter (50% daily water changes are NOT the way to go) it will be £46.

im glad you broke down the cost for folks. it is not nearly as inexpensive to keep and "inexpensive" fish such as bettas. not to mention water conditioner/dechor and labor of water changes. but a filter will fit easily enough in that bowl and youll be so much happier and get to ENJOY your fish (and not think of them as a chore) once the filter cycles.
i just wish more folks would learn about their pets and needs and requirements(time commitment) BEFORE they bought them. would help a lot of unwanted animals.
cheers
