my baby betta is getting pale, there are certian parts of the day he gets real pale at first i thought it was a lighting things now i am not sure.
i am including some before and after pics you will have to let me know if they actually load because my program won't let me see it for some reason.
he has been eating when i feed him. because of the bulge i have been giving him peas every two days to clear him out but it doesn't seem to want to go away. and now he is looking pale. he is not as active although he is still interactive with me, he just doesn't want to move as much as before. like before i would have him chase the pen and he would go crazy trying to kill it, now he will get nutty for like a minute then get bored and wonder away. or still chase it but not flare at it anymore. he will drift and stare at me for hours at the front of the tank but he no longer flares or tries to kill the computer like he is used to. he just doesn't seems like himself. he acts healthy but something tells me there is something wrong and i just don't know what it is. i have been treating him for tail rot also with a powder called maracyn because last week over night his tail suddenly shreded. i got him in febuary from a petsmart to have a dorm pet i know he isn't a pure breed betta i know he is a mutte but love the little guy anyways. he really has me worried. please anyone help.

before livingstons troubles
another before
current paling and the bulge he has had for over a week now
another after

I'm no expert by any means but his bulge doesn't look like the usual bloating bulge that you see sometimes. Have you put this in the emergencies section?

Have you tried him on any anti internal bacteria meds?

Hi
I do know that an Internal bacterial infection can cause loss of colour and appetite. Other than that, and if water is good and changed regularly, i dont know.

see the thing is his appitite is fine. he wishes i would give him his little worms again but at this point i am trying to get him on a normal betta diet.

Hi
We have a female red dragon who has been a pain since we got her. We have taken her out of the female tank and into a divided tank so we can feed her. She couldn't compete with the others. She lost a lot of colour and at present will only eat bloodworm. We are treating with Interpet anti Internal Bacteria. The trouble with feeding only bloodworm is that it can cause problems itself. I have decided not to feed her for a couple of days and then try something else.
So far she has refused - Betta pro, Betta gold, 2 different flakes, Discus bits, Aquaone betta pellets, live brineshrimp, frozen daphnia and brineshrimp and Pea!
You're not alone :good:

Well I hesitate to go there again but "Kent Garlic Extreme" is a great attractant  for the Finicky eaters, and also I recently picked up Hikari Mini wafers jus to see, and my betta went mental like nothing else over these, plus they are tiny and easy to eat (don't give too many or you'll get that bloat) I'll do 4-5 at a time,

thanks for not ripping on me for that suggestion :good:

Cheers Eb2 :good:

Hikari Betta gold are a good pellet or Betta pro, although pro is more expensive.
You can squeeze a clove of garlic so the juice comes out into a little bowl and then leave the pellet in there for a short while :good:

i will have to try that. last time i gave him pellets he spit them out and glared at me. his attitude seems to be shifting because he happily took the flakes from me today. i will go buy him better pellets tommarow this betta is making me go broke :p

intresting new development today. the fish will get pale, so pale i can see though his top fins (the dorsl maybe) then 10 minutes later his color completly returns. and he acts like nothing happen. is my fish trying to drive me crazy or is this something i should be concerned with?

Have you tried soaking them in with the blood worm juices? work really well for one of mine. Another thing i tried was having her in a glass chimny in the girls tank and fed her first then when the girls "tried to pinch her food" she ate it

Thanks Shell will try the bloodworm juice......that's one we haven't tried yet :good: We did have her in the breeding net in the girls tank for a while when this first started and after a couple of weeks she started eating little bits and then we put her back in the main tank and she seemed to be doing ok for a while. Now she's lost all her colour too we've moved her into a divided tank so she has her own space.
