If i started a ick treatment yesterday and wanted to stop the treatment and start a internal parasite medicine today could i do that? My fish are dying one by one.. they slowly stop swimming and get discolored.. and they either lie at the top of let themselves float to the bottom and jus breathe... the webbing on their tails look as if their jus fading away...

she also has a loss of appetite...

some of the signs sound like ick as i was advised.. sorry no water samples...

but iono... my poor fish are dying... ::sad face:: should i jus continue with the ick treatment?

You should never add meds to a tank till you know what you are treating for.
First thing to look at is water quality so without water stats its not going to be easy.
I would do a immediate water change and increase aeration in the tank.
Whitespot looks like the fish has been sprinkled in sal
Being pale is a sign of stress and desease.
The symtoms you are describing sound like bad water quality

two fo my fish were covered in the white spot that looked like salt so i took my fish to the lfs and was informed that it was ick as well as consulting people on this board.. one of them died yesterday.. and i started the ick treatment.. i did a water change yesterday befor ei went the store and before i started the medicine.. i cleaned the gravel well to try and reduce the amount of the parasite i thought i had.. i also turned the heat up to 30c to aid with the ick guard 2

If you no the fish have whitespot why do you want to change the med to an internal parasite med.

Have you increased aeration in the tank with the high temp and med.
Remove black carbon if you use it in your filter.
Half dose if the meds say to with scaless fish.

Its really hard to help people when you dont have all the info, you need to test your water asap

As wilder said you need to know what your treating b4 u stick medication in

you mentioned that you'd been away, its probs caused by poor water quality

i was afraid that it might have been something else because they were dying so fast.. but im continuing my ick treatment because i believe thats wats killin them.. and yea i had been away for 9 days.. all my other tanks are fine.. and this is the tank i take care of the most so it was all well wen i left.. wen i came back some fish were dead.. so i removed them and appropriately did a water change... my other fish are fine.. just one female betta slowly dying.. as did my other yesterday... i removed the carbon filter already and have turned out the heat to aid the medication as well as adding another air stone.. i am dosing as told for 7 days...

only one.. the other fish jus up and died.. so yes i did assume it was bad water quality because of the dead fish and me being away for so long.. so i did a water change... and even though i did a water change.. one died yesterday with ick on her body...

im sorry im so eratic lol
i jus love my fishies!!

If there was dead fish in the tank the water quality would of been bad., resulting in stress and a weak immune system, resulting in a whitespot out break.
Dosn't take much to kill fish a slight change in water quality can finish them off.

I would buy a liquid test kit in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

im in the process of doing that currently... i left mine at home.. so im waiting for my money this wknd..... i was going to buy the whole master test kit.. im trying to find one at a good price...

thank you for your help

also.. some of my fish have got shredded fins ( from picking with each other and for a pk male that i thought was a female until a couple weeks ago) would you recommend melafix to help them with the tails and insure they dont get infected?

Good water quality and the fins will heal on there own,.
I wouldn't add the melafix with the whitespot med, or is this a different tank.

this is the same tank.. but i wasnt going to add them at the same time.. i was going to add the melafix after i finish the ick guard treatment and did a water change... i heard from different people that adding melafix would help the fins grow back faster without infection

Ok thats fine then.
Yes melafix is good at stopping infections, but bacterial finrot a different matter melafix is no good.

thank you.. another just died.. but ill be havin the water tested 2mar and will be continuing the ick treatment.. hopefully nobody else will die... thanx!!!!
