I moved my female acara from my Cory tank in to my 36gal were Carl the male keyhole is king. Carl is fully mature and I think he might have a thing for my blue acara. They are getting along a little too well. And both are in full breeding colors.

I know hybrids are bad but if they spawn I might raise one and keep it. I will not sell them or spread them around. I just want to see what it would look like.

I knew Carl was lonely. We will see what happens.
I'm watching them right now and he is 100% courting her. She is checking him out.

It is cute we will see if anything happens but right now they seem to be in love.

Well, If I remember correctly... Keyholes are closely related to Blue Acaras... Not sure about the breeding requirements of each fish... But it sounds like they MIGHT be spaqning... Not really sure though.

spaqning??

what on earth is that?

breeding requirements BAH we have the forums for that. :hyper:

if they do breed then the eggs may be infertile.

must be an acara thing lol my female acara used to give it the come on to vinny my red spotted sev displaying to him liek crazy. she even went as far as spawning on a rock a couple of times in the hope he would fertilize them

Attracted much? Lol. How did he react when she layed the eggs on a rock? Did he just leave them alone, and pay no attention to them? I find that kind of funny, Mark.

she spent weeks trying her best to woo him , followed him like a sheep shimmying and displaying and he was just like yeah whatever , when she spawned on the rock he wasnt even slightly interested and completely ignored it. then my group of tiger barbs saw their chance and swooped en force to steal and eat the eggs.

Wow, sounds like a great watch! I would have loved to seen her excitement over him. Even other fish can't stand the beauty in severums!

These 2 are always together. It's really cute. They are the perfect pair besides the fact they are differant types of fish. This female BA was with a mate they could never seem to get along unless they were spawning.. They had a love hate thing going on.

I don't know if they will spawn but they do like eachother. I was going to give this female BA away but I can't now.
