Oh No I Feel So Guilty

Just cleaned out my canister and emptied the old water down the sink and watched a load of baby shrimp go down the drain, it was so quick there was nothing I could do

What 'flavour' shrimp......?

I know your biggest worry is how unfortunate it was, but if those little guys survive in the drains then it could be a lot worse!

Hopefully they will get slowed down by the temperature, and kinda - go to sleep. I think thats what happens with chaps like that.

Maybe you could fit some netting or fine mesh/sponge across the filter inlet to stop the next lot getting sucked into the system?

I have cherry and a green looking shrimp in my tank (malayan?) I saved 3, so sad I never see babies in the tank but yes I will put a mesh over the intake strainer

Sorry to hear about the loss, not too much you can do though. I'd say run a lot of extra water down the drain just to make sure they don't survive.
