Oh My Poor Girl :(

Updating again if anyone cares heh

She seems to be doing alot better. Not resting as much as she was before. She's actually been swimming around alot. She's acting like she's feeling alot better.
She still looks somewhat bloated though, but maybe not as bad. It's sorta hard to tell though. Her scales haven't gotten any worse which is good I guess, but they're still slightly poking out.

But definitely a good sign I think that she's alot more active. Gosh I hope she keeps getting better! I really think the epsom salt in the tank is what is helping a great deal.

I think I may have only given her a little bit more time before she dies.
Although her scales aren't sticking out nearly as much as they were, her swimming seems to be getting weaker now.

I wish she would eat, b/c I'd much rather give her a medicated food instead of treating the whole tank, but *shrugs*

I don't want to give up on her, but I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Keep medicating the tank? I know I'll be doing more frequent water changes and adding in the epsom salt since that seems to have helped.
But *shrugs* I dunno.....

I guess I'll just continue with what I'm doing and hope for the best.

and what i was saying about waiting a week to put another in, you know the tank is clear from anything..

theres no point in sticking betta after betta every few days if they die, if that happens then theres obviously something up

i was only saying it to help *jeez*

Well you should've said that! :p heh
I apologize if I came off as rude. I just get in to a grumpy mood and unfortunatly it comes across in my posts. You would think I'd know better than to post at those times, but nope! -_-

Anywho..... update on my pinky...
I did a 40% water change today. Added more meds and more epsom salt.

She's not doing any better unfortunatly.
The epsom salt in the tank really did help with the swelling though. So I would highly recommend it for anyone else out there who is trying to help their betta with dropsy or bloating or whatever.
Her scales are barely poking out now, but I think I caught it too late still.
She's just not doing any better, actually doing slightly worse. She's been resting at the bottom of the tank alot this past day and still breathing heavily.

As I said in the previous post... I think I only gave her a little bit more time. I'm gonna keep it up though until the end.

She is feeling ALOT better today.

She's been harassing the other girl like there's no tomorrow (I'm getting another divider)... and swimming around a good bit. ALMOST acting normal. She showed interest in wanting food & I tryed giving her a pellet but I don't think she ate it.
Maybe she'll eat some bloodworm tonight.

A few of her scales on her belly are still sticking out some, and her tailfin is very tatty from resting so much and then from being so active today. She's also still breathing heavily, but she is definitely acting like she feels better.

I'm going to continue medicating for a few more days along with keeping up the epsom salt in the tank. Hopefully she keeps getting better. :hyper:

Sounds like things are looking a bit more positive now. Fingers crossed she soon gets her appetite back and builds her strength up again.

Good luck with her :good:

Well, she still looks like she's doing better which is great, and she ate a little bit of bloodworm which I'm SO happy about!
I'm so glad that I caught this early and didn't give up on her.
Even if this all turns out to have only given her only a little bit more time.... at least I'll know that I tryed.

Glad everything is seems to be turning around! I get so attached to them that it is hard when something happens. Please keep us posted on the recovery process.

Thanks so much everyone.

She's still fighting on. I don't think she'll ever be her normal self again, but she's not giving up.
Her tattered fins are healing up really well. There's alot of regrowth. Now if she would just stop getting in to it with the other girl maybe they'd heal up quicker.
I think after I'm done medicating the tank, I'll change the filter media. Put a new filter bag in along with some mature media. All the meds that I've pumped in to the tank most probably thoroughly killed the beneficial stuff.

Great to hear she is doing better, hopefully she will make a full recovery :)

I hope she recovers fully, I just lost the little girl that my blue marble had gone after. its so darn sucky when fish get hurt or sick.

if you are worried about the 3 still being "dirty" from past sick fish, heres what I do,

stick the tank in the sink, pour a blottle of bleach in and let it sit, then turn the tap water on as hot as it will go (scalding in my house) and let it run into and overflow the tank for a few mins, then I slowly turn the tap from hot to cold and let that run for a good half hour.

when I go to reuse I use a whopping does of water conditioner.

Well, she's still doing really well.
She ate more last night and yeah, she's just been doing great.
I'll be doing another water change soon and plan on stopping w/ the meds.
Hopefully she doesn't need them any longer.
I'll still be adding in some epsom salt though.

And yeah.... so far so good. If anything big changes, I'll be sure to update on it :)
