Left my other half in charge of feeding my fish (betta and 5 panda corys) over the weekend whilst I was away, showed him exactly how much to give and now my poor betta seems to be constipated! reckon bf wanted to treat them a bit

So... noticed he hasnt been himself since I got back Sunday but I thought he might just be sulking where I'd gone away

but today his body is swollen and not moving around much

so ive put him in a breeder box to make it easier to reach the surface (with a few plants to hide in of course) and some pea, is there anything else i can do for him?

If he doesn't improve, you could try an Epsom salt bath. You can get it from the chemist. Dissolve 1 tablespoon in 1 gallon of water and leave the fish in it for about 20 minutes. Watch in case he shows any sign of distress; if he does you'l have to get him out and back in the tank.

Oh, and don't let anyone else feed your fish in future (I probably don't need to say that ;) ). A healthy fish can easily go without food for a couple of weeks without it doing them any harm.

when i have to let other people feed my fish i always measure the amount in tablespoons, and tell them how many tablespoons to feed them, this way its always exact

When someone not in the know so peak feeds fish they think in human terms and surely that isn't enough so they give them a bit more.

he's now been banned from fish feeding (hes quite a clever cookie so thought he would get it right) lesson learnt
should i fast the cories for a day or two to make sure theyre ok too?

Oh dear, my dad was exactly the same! I told him time and time again that betta are absolute pigs, but he would still over feed them. I'd come home and they would all look like balloons! I would do a water change just to make sure there is no un-eaten food in the tank, fast the tank for a few days and then try cooked and de-shelled peas.
Hope he pulls through ok, keep us updated? :)
