Hello

This isn't a problem now because the fish in question died some time ago.

However, reading through the topics on this forum made me think of him and his strange behaviour.

My fish, a mature gold gourami around 4 years never had anything wrong until this happened. He was obviously ill because he kept swimming very fast to the top of the tank and hitting his head on the top - so loudly you could hear it outside the tank. I could only think that the problem was with his gills in that maybe he was trying to get water rushing through them as he came back down into the water. However, there were no signs of a gill problem (no reddening, no fungal attachments, no discolouring etc etc) and in fact no outward sign of illness at all.

I cannot remember if we treated him with Melafix, Pimafix or eSHa2000 but it would have been one of those.
He never recovered and just exhausted himself, eventually dying. There were a couple of reddish patches on his side just before he died but I believe those may have been injuries from throwing himself about.

It was very distressing to watch and although I hope I never see it again, I just wondered if anyone had any idea of what it could have been.
