Ocean Rock

Evening all, can anyone tell me if this is safe? I have a small lump of ocean rock that I got from my lfs, they do marine and freshwater and this was in teh freshwater side.

Am I likely to kill anything or reduce my stocking choice by using it?

Its not very big, about 1/2kg (1lb)

Ocean rock may alter your ph (raise it) which will have an effect on your current stock.......

Ah, right, well thats ok. SOrry I should have said its a new 70L tank that has no stock. Hopefully add some tomorrow using a cycled filter from my main tank
