This plant looks like Hydrocotyle Leucocephala. It should start racing to the surface in no time.

Hydrocotyle Leucocephala is not a lily. It is a stemplant, known by the common name Brazilian pennywort. It does flower, but not in the same way as a lily. It propogates via side shoots, cuttings, and, of course, sexually when it has a chance to flower. It grows primarily by shooting to the surface, but with time, can be trained to anchor into the substrate. Nymphaea species are not stemplants, these plants grow via a nutrient-rich tuber or bulb.

I keep the larger Nymphaea lotus, which doesn't stay as compact as N. stellata. It can take as little as a few days for it to sprout, or as long as a few weeks for the lily to sprout, depending on the condition of the bulb and your substrate.

By the way, Jen, your tank looks fantastic.

llj :)
