Think 5L should cover my tank 125L (800mm X 370mm base),
but i might get more just to be sure, does it need changing like once a year or owt?

you can work out how much youll need via the calculator...i used something like 3 litres...for 1cm in my 125

Just thought about my WPG If i go by us gallons iv only got 1.2WPG im planning on using FE CO2, with TPN+ and EasyCarbo,
But will my set-up/plants be affected by the low WPG?

you will be fine for most plants with that lighting, what are you actually running? 2*T8's?

Yeah 2 X T8 20W Aqua-Glo and Power-Glo which came with my Roma

Packaging says 18,000K, and the Aqua-Glo is for the plants more

you can grow anything with good CO2 and ferts in that case, providing you fit reflectors

Its got reflectors built in as the bulbs, ballast etc comes in its own housing all in one which sits in the middle of the tank.

before you buy the cat litter you might want to check akadama out...

try this link here

it's only slightly more than the cat litter and comes alongside sms (soil master select) in terms of quality.

I was going to go for the cat litter option but decided against it after reading about akadama.

just had a read, does it need washing?

also about the sudden KH drops (without treating) which would cause my PH to drop, im planning on setting up my tank for the last time wednesday ready for fish on sat,

i dont really want to be doin daily 90% changes,

From what iv been told cat litter has no ill affetcs and can be put straight in

the cat litter in that thread was the wooden kind...not clay

i remember that, it was where dave wrote a rather narrow minded statement.

read dave spencers post, he knows what hes talking about when it comes to plants

I know that some people use it, but really there are other nearly as cheap, better substrates in my opinion.

I like the idea of the akadama as you don't need to cap it and i quite like the colour as well.

I will need at least 2 X 14L bags for my 55 gallon.

no, i believe its inert, you dont need to wash it, just make sure you have enough sand to cover it.
