Look at some of the previous topics if you have a question. Someone might have asked the same question you are thinking, a month or two ago and it might still be posted. This helps clear up forums space and makes so 5 questions arn't posted in two days about basically the same thing.

Reason why this is brought up by me is that if I see one more topic about potential tankmates and tank sizes for discus and/or angels, I'm gonna scream. It seems every day there is a new topic on these guys and it's always the same questions. I guess I shouldn't pick on these fish or the people asking about them, they are popular so alot of people are interested in them, but I should also include the recent increase in ram and apisto questions as well. All of these questions regarding all these fish have been asked atleast once if not 35 times in the few monthes I have been on the forum.

So...moral of the story is.....I'm an jerk first and foremost and can tend to be impatient, but more over, read the forum topics, there is more than the front page too, many forums are 8 pages or more, so there is tons of info out there. Just spend sometime, read a little...and you might learn something. :good:

or better administration of the section and add a sticky to the top of the section on the most popular questions should also cure it.

Yes point taken but this is supposed to be a friendly-helpful forum as well :) What you just wrote will put people especially newbies like myself asking questions

thank the lord someone actually thinks the same as me.
i dont own discus or ramms or apisto's or anything small and peacefull.
i like big aggressive cichlids. whenever i ask a question about one of my fish no 1 ever replys and im left in the dark. but u get 20 people asking how many discus you can ahve in a 55G tank every few weeks. its ridiculous! theres species profiler on most of the commonly kept cichlids. i even wrote the one for the chocolate cichlid. if you ahve any problems with your fish first check theyre on the list and itl tell you all about them. stop spamming the boards witht he same questions over again,
ox5477 were on the same page.
tuurlijk

i kno what you mean ox.

i used to damn near live on the xbox forums and the amount of posts asking how to get the xbox hooked up to live nearly drove me insane!!

jus gotta accept it tho it seems cos you cant stop them and its better they ask thatn dont!!

dont worry, you should develop a kinda 6th forum sense that allows you to scan past repeat posts and read the new stuff. :)

I think people would rather post a question and let people answer it for them.. rather then search the internet or even the forum to see if their question has been asked before.. takes less time and is easier..

I know what you're saying though..

I know having the same question over and over is annoying. I did all the research about tank size for angels etc, and decided against them because of the small tank i have at the moment.

That said, there are that many conflicting ideas and advice about what fish to keep with each other, someone may just want to have their question answered by what they see as a real person! Noob's can get really baffled by different ideas that they are either scared off or end up putting angels and neons in the same tank anyway and wonder why the neons keep disappearing.

Maybe there should be a FAQ sticky, and then when the same question comes around, someone, the forum mod or otherwise could just offer them a link to the sticky! Then if the person really wants to start a thread and ask the question, they get an answer!

This is a common thing everywhere. Not just this forum. Back in the olden days when we commumicated on newsgroups and powered our computers with hand cranks, these people would be severely flamed and instructed to RTFFAQ! Around here, people deal with this in a more friendly manner. I like the old way of doing things (Research first and then ask questions to clarify) and hold back on the urge to let loose, lest I be labeled a Jerk. I tend to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that the person asking a repetitive question is someone who just hasn't been around the 'net very long. At least I hope that's the case.

Haha! Someone who remembers!

286's and 9600 baud modems! On second thought, maybe the good old days weren't so good. :/
