I've Just come back from my Holidays.
I have been away for 7 Days. My fish have not been fed for 6 days and they are all alive and well.
I put in some extra cabomba so they can Nibble.
6 Silver Tip
7 Rosey Tetra
2 Zebra Danio
1 RTBS
2 Cory

All doing fine. Excellent.

If you think about it in the wild fish dont get fed everyday. So its okay they can live without getting fed and some people say its healthier that way. As long as they arent starved for like a year i think you'll be good.

So have you bought some more company for your poor Corys and Danios, to make a 6+ species group of each, since coming back off holiday?

You could buy your fish a live treat while down the LFS...

I read somewhere (dont know how true) that the average tropical fish tank can go two weeks without feeding before you start to 'deprive' fish of thier required intake of food. So there shouldnt be a problem, i can go a few days without feeding its never been an issue. I just feed a little heavier than usual every few days. Left overs are taken care of by my plec + lobster

Or, he could do as he pleases and not change his stock, just because people read that you have to and go 'by the book'... whether it's working or not

Granted, I would suggest when buying that they'd do best in a decent size group, but then I've had them in groups and smaller numbers and found them to be perfectly fine in either, in community tanks with plenty going on. Obviously though, those poor little fishies were having an awful time. On their own in a tank, then that's a different story.

Hiya's,

We returned today after eight days away with no feeding too

All fish are alive fit and seem to of grown lol

Did feed them plenty of bloodworm the week before we went away, all the loaches seemed to have nice pot bellies, on checking earlier they have lost most of their pot belly look but still seem nicely rounded

As a treat tomorrow they are getting some live bloodworm as they seemed a bit miffed at just flake at feeding time this evening hehe

Ohh i was expecting quite a bit of muck to be syphoned out, but obviously no food equals less waste so it was just a quick syphon job

The rcc has done his usual trick though, cut through a few plant stems just about 1" off the sand, he was about to snip another a while back so i had to tease some loaches over to his area to put him off

The lights were on a timer for a mere 5hrs a day so no algae as such

Off on holiday next month too so we'll do the same method

TTFN
