I am having a horrible time with my 20usg tank. Algae covers the glass within a week and the plants look pale and aren't growing/doing so well.

Temp is 76-78F
DIY co2, the nutrafin with bubble ladder, it goes about one bubble every 5 seconds.
Light is 8 hours a day, 2 24" t-8 15W bulbs. Not sure of age.
EI ferts since I use it on my 55gal. kno3 1/4 tsp, kh2po4 little less than 1/8 tsp, csm+b little less than 1/8tsp 3x a week.

Wisteria, pennywort, java fern, moss balls, crypt wendtii brown and green, hornwort and an anubias barteria nana.
Only inhabitants are a Mystus leucophasis and lots of trumpet snails.

Leaves on pennywort grow small and turn brown, look paler than the ones in my 55gal
Wisteria looks paler and more flimsy than it was in my 55 (had to take it out because my angels ate it to almost nothing), turning a little brown
Moss balls are ok
Crypts I can't really tell, they haven't grown much.
Hornwort seems ok, not as thick and bushy as the other tank.
Java fern its still thin and small, little lighter/yellower than normal.
Anubia grew a leaf then it died, and then grew another then that leaf is starting to turn brown as well.
Algae is brownish green and can't see through it,

I had a broaf leaf sagittaria in there but the leaves started to turn see through and brown.
I had another plant as well and it started to do the same.

Tank has been up for 6 months. But that is only because I moved it to a new location, used old filter stuff.

This is the plant I had in there but took out, what is it?

Also, in my 55gal, the crypt wendtii are staying short, they've grown leaves since I've had them (November) but haven't grown up much.
I still have greenspot algae but not bad. I've been waiting for a diffuser for about 3 weeks now :\ They were supposed to send it two weeks ago but 'ran out' and asked if they could send it next week, I'm still waiting... :grr: But I made my own reactor type thing until then. A pump with an airstone swirling around in the plastic end of one of those vacuum hoses

your CO2 is way too low, i personally would go pressurized on a tank that size as fermentation cant really keep up with CO2 needs, and 1BP5S is very low, buy a drop checker and use it to measure CO2 levels

I have pressurized on my 55. 1 bps
So they aren't doing so well because it is diy on the 20?

What about the short crypts in my 55? And what is that plant?

How much more should I put in then?

And a leaf in the 20gal, on the pennywort, is letting off a stream of bubbles -_-

It's brown and all over the glass and easy to wipe off. It is on the pennywort too. Is it diatoms?

Long thing is temporary thing until I get my diffuser, which I ordered a month ago... :grr:

The 20 has been up since 5 months since I moved it, but I had it running for 4 years.

i think it may be the plants releasing ammonia into the water becasue you say they are not doing well. Try raising the dose to the levels i suggested above, and see if you notice an improvement on plant health/ growth.
You could also try to raise the water changes to 2 x 50% per week.
