Not An Urgent One

Someone has suggested an internal bacterial med, would that be OK?

Thats fine,.
Good luck.

Thanks wilder :) Been to the LFS, they had 2 meds with no copper, I chose king british with silver proteinate in. Haven't found any bodies today, but can't see one of the shrimp and one of the endlers. The last rasbora is still with us but his gills do look red. I'll dose now and it says every 3-4 days.

Ok.
Let me know how you get on.
Look out for signs of gill flukes.

I've just caught an endler looking like it's in the final throes. It's extremely thin and is swimming round in circles a bit but not constantly. It also seems quite 'flittery' its tail and pectoral fins moving very rapidly even though it's in still water. I only noticed as it was in the same place for an hour-it looks quite normal apart from that. Does that sound like anything?

I put him back in the tank, maybe the meds will work. Def. erratic swimming though, on its side and like its disorientated.

Not sounding good. It sounds like he's dying.

Still no parasite symtoms.

Well, he's still with us and looking a lot perkier! I can tell it's him as he's still a bit thin, but he's swimming normally and came out with the rest to eat today. He does have a whitespot/patch on his tail-hope it's not whitespot starting as well! I think I've lost the last rasbora though, can't see him anywhere :(
No, still no sign of parasites.
Another thing that occurred to me today, could it be poisoning of some sort? Everything in the tank is meant for fish, except the pipe to the airstone (I got this from work and I think it was new, but I couldn't be sure now I think of it) and 2 cable ties I've used to hold the air tube in place.
Thanks for following this :)

Need to look for dead fish as it can cause bad water quality.

Signs of toxins in the tank are gasping, laboured breathing, darting, erratic swimming, excess mucas, turn upside down.

Going to read your thread again.

What are the pipes used for at work.
Could any chemicals gotton onto the tube.

Red gills, darting, weighloss all point to parasites like gill flukes, maybe toxins but dosn't explain the weight loss.
Bacterial but dosn't explain the darting unless the fish is dying.

Gill flukes cause weightloss and bacterial infections.

Can you post latest water stats please.
As bad water quality can show all those symtoms.

Well, latest water stats are bad 'cos I think I've killed all the filter bacteria :( Ammonia is up, I've just had a reading of 0.25-0.5 and done a 50% change. Up to last night though, stats had been 0 all along. Surely there must be something that can kill disease bacteria, but leave the filter alone? So now I'm in a fish in as well as the other problem whatever it is
Still can't see any sign of parasites.
I'd never seen the tube used for anything, that's why I took it, I'm fairly sure it was new.
Thanks

All you can do is keep doing water changes and increase aeration.

You need to sort your tank out as its overstocked.

I stocked according to advice on here. And going by the cm per litre idea. How do you think it's overstocked? I'm presuming you mean when it was full, not now surely?
I am doing the water changes and there is an airstone in there anyway. At the last count, there were still all 6 endlers and a shrimp.

Ok.

When you buy new fish always check tank size for them, adult size, if there compatiable with the fish you keep.
