I posted this thread in discussion. Further to it, I have just emptied the tank to do a water change and found the remains (just) of another rasbora. I counted and there are only 3 now and one of them looks thin like the one that died last week. Could they really be starving or is there any disease that would make them thin like that? I have no idea what their poo looks like as I only ever see them dart across the front of the tank occasionally.
I really want to go and get 3 more endlers to bring it up to 12 fish again, but not if they're just going to die too :(

Your tanks overstocked.

Being thin can be old age, fish isn't eating, internal parasites, fish tb, bacterial infection, external parasites., not feeding enough.

What do you feed the fish and how often.
What does it look like when your fish go to the toilet.
Check there anus to see if its enlarged or red and inflamed.
Any worms prutruding from the anus.
Do any fish have sunken in bellys.
Do any fish show signs of a bent spine.

? I've got 24cm of fish and 4 shrimps in a 25l? Or I did have before they started dying.
Just found another rasbora, the only thing that looks amiss is red gills

What do you feed the fish and how often. I feed them once a day, I distract the endlers with flakes, then put some sinking fancy guppy granules at the back in the hopes the rasboras will get them.
What does it look like when your fish go to the toilet. I hardly ever see them, let alone their poo!
Check there anus to see if its enlarged or red and inflamed. As above.
Any worms prutruding from the anus. ditto again.
Do any fish have sunken in bellys. Yes, that's the only symptom I've seen.
Do any fish show signs of a bent spine. No.

Thanks for any help :)

Red gills can be bad water quality, gill flukes, bacterial gill rot.

Need to look at your other thread again.

What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Sorry showing my age but what does this mean. ditto again.

Darting can be bad water quality, toxins, overdose of meds, stray voltage, parasites, ph shock. The fish is dying.

I had 1 ammonia spike since I stocked the tank, but other than that, stats are always 0 ammonia and nitrite.
The ditto, I just meant I can't answer about any of the 3 closeup questions as I never really see the fish.
And by darting, I don't mean in an unusual way, just that they are fast, skittish fish.

You need to improve the fish diet with frozen foods and veg.

Keep a look out for then the fish goes to the toilet.
Flicking and rubbing.
Erratic swimming.
Laboured breathing or gasping at surface of tank.
Sores on the body of the fish or red pin prick marks.
Excess mucas on gills or body of fish.
Swimming in a jerky movement.

Right, I'll try and watch them tonight. I haven't seen any of the symptoms you mention so far though.
I've opened the tank this morning to see if there are any more dead, and I found a shrimp, looking like it was ready to eat, cooked and deshelled on top of the filter baskets? Maybe it could have climbed up there, but it would be against the outflow current. And where's the shell gone?

Just checked all stats again. Ammonia 0 nitrites 0 pH 8 seems to have gone up a bit since last night, but that could be the light, nitrates less than 5.
Is it worth treating with something antibacterial? Is there anything that would work with the shrimp or will they have to come out?
Thanks

What test kit are you using?

Just found another rasbora, no visible signs of anything wrong, and another shrimp. I can only see 1 remaining shrimp atm and it seems fine, eating away. All 6 endlers look fine too, just fed no problem. I got a glimpse of the last rasbora, didn't see anything obviously wrong, not even the sunken belly.

Ok.

I would try a bacterial med and if no improvement get back to the board.

Thanks. Is there one that can be used with shrimp? I was going to put them in with the betta if I had to treat this tank, but now I've had to treat that one too, so that's not an option anymore.

Not sure about shrimp and bacterial meds. I would check by doing a thread in tropical discussion.

Let me know how the fish get on as it could be a number of things.
