My local beach has Norwegian granite (not porous) once washed do you think it would be safer than normal porous rocks from the beach?

On the whole granite is a largely silicate quartz type rock, which may well be suitable, but drip some vinegar on it and leave it a minute to see if there's any fizzing. If it fizzes, don't use it. If it doesn't then it's probably safe as long as it's cleaned thoroughly. Granite is immensely weather resistant which implies it won't do much to react with the water.

I've put beach rocks in my tank and nothing bad happened. Who's to say where shop bought rocks have come from? Granite is granite at the end of the day, as long as it washed and rinsed properly I'm sure it would be fine.

Great will do, thats what I was thinking... it may be a safer option as it will only be the outside that will need to be washed and I wont need to worry about things seeping out of the centre over time!

I agree as long as washed with care and water is tested and monitored it isnt a problem!
