Hello,

I am new to the forum so please bear with me.

I have just purchased a Aquaone Reflex 35 tank, which was supplied with the Aquaone Reflex 26/35 pump and a Rena Smartheater 50. My concern is I feel the pump is pretty noisy and not sure if this is the norm.

I have mounted the pump into the back of the Reflex through the hole and applied a duckbill outlet to the pump. The smart heater is too big to place in any of the compartments so have this inside the tank itself.

Believe my setup is correct, but I am finding this pump too noisy. Would anyone be able to advise if this is a common problem and if so a better alternative pump that will fit the Reflex 35.

Happy to upload any photos of setup if it helps.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum :)

It is quite common for new filters to be noisy. Sometimes they just need to 'bed in' for a few days, or they can get air trapped in them, or the impeller can be not seated properly.

You can try pouring some water into the filter compartment, to force out any trapped air (it does sometimes work!), or turning the filter slightly, and you should probably take it apart and put it back together again as well.

How log has it been running in so far? And, as an aside, have you read up on fishless cycling yet?
