I know, there spending like a kazillion batrillion dollars on the stupid space program. I for one don't care if the moon is made out of cheese. and if they find water on mars.

I think it would be fascinating if they found water on mars. Just think about what kind of organisms they might find!

A little of topic but the spaceprogram entails the construction of a "moonbase" for extended periods of living on the moon which will eventually serve as a waypoint for trips to mars. I read that in the paper a few days ago.

Organisims!? Unless it can print money or help earth in anyway I wouldn't be interested at all. -_-

OK, imagine this. We go to mars, find water, and in the water is this supermegacooltotallyawesomesuperduperultamega fish
what would you say then.

EDIT: Besides... I'm sure the human race would find some way to exploit it, just like we do everything else. :p

If we found life on another planet, it would be the greatest discovery man ever made.

And you don't care about that? -_-

Lynden i care that there my be life out there but there are also on avarege 120,000 people die every day due to diseases and starvashin that is preventible. But of cours the usa whants to go to the moon and build hotels.

I'm the kind of person that believes that everything has a purpose and that nature strives to maintain some type of balance, however grim it may seem, if we were to eradicate all diseases and such, I believe the earth and human race would be much worse off than it currently is. Of course, long term goals of the space program are inhabiting foreign planets; More land, more potential for food/water.

Wow, quite the pholosophical thread here . I'm just gonna say that stereotype, passee, cliche, or whatever, I love my clowns and will never not have one. Great personalities :D 8)

Lynden wouldnt you rather the money went to protecting the worlds reefs or stopping global warming?

Clowns are what got me to step into my local reef specialist pet store(lrspt) As soon as i say my first full blown reef i was hooked.

i know im putting my kneck on the line for saying this but where do most virus', scams and bad stuff come form? usuaaly the educated people from 3rd world countrys. Then imagine if all of the 3rd world countries people became educated. Then they could become a national power and everywhere else would be at there mercy. Sorta the way america does atm (not saying i dont like americans they are all awseome :) cept for politicians :grr:) I do agree that it would be cool to find organisms on another planet because we could study the life forms and we could learn more about humans and all life, it could be the revoloution that are age is rememberd for instead of killing the earth. The thing is,is people would rather find new things than prevent thigs that are happening.

just my two buks

I'd just like to point out how little is known about this supposed "phenomena" and would rather see money go to actual studying of it and figuring out what is really going on with it. I do however support the protection of the worlds reefs :good: .

I agree, however I don't think this is easily done. You can't just "throw money at the problem", its been done and all it does is make the problem worse. It's also hard to educate people who have such a fierce encultration built into them since they were born. Alas... if only people weren't so corrupt with blindness and greed.

LOL if we ever found water or a fish on Mars I wouldn't give two shi*ts about it. It's not that it won't be a big discovery but it's just that why are we hoping for water on Mars?? What's the point when most of California will be under water due to Global Warming. Or having half of the worlds population dead because of AIDs, HIV or even Cancer. Were taking in more than we can chew is all that i'm saying.

 Once again I'd like to point out how little is known about "Global Warming" and that is an extreme speculation on scientists parts. To tell you the truth I think humans have brought "AIDs, HIV [and] Cancer"(Mr. September15) on themselves. After finding a cure for pretty much every disease nature has come up with something to throw at us in an attempt to control our population :p.

EDIT: As far as not caring about the discovery on life on other planets, I think it would be wise to. Because it would likely create alot of... problems here on earth.

BAH! Correcting me, Mr.Ranger's Journel :p . Yeah but it's pretty obvious but the rednecks of the U.S still can't see it. Most of the worlds Ice Cap's are melting due to Paris Hilton. :-(

Humans only effect the earths atmosphere by small fraction of what volcanoes do. Not much we can do about it imo.
