No Corys

Well in the transformation of my tank, stopped in a local chain pet store. To look around mostly, and check prices.
After the blood pressure spike at seeing the bettas, and the overpriced stock, I came across the college kid working in fish.
She asked if I needed anything. Yeah pygmy cories. 'We don't stock corys.' What!
How does a pet shop not stock cories?
Next had a look at the plants. Nice stock of non-aquatics rotting away. They get removed when completly dead.
The plants won't come back and neither will I.

What kind of LFS doesn't stock any corys? They usually have at least bronze, peppered and albino! Doesn't sound like a place worth visiting if they sell houseplants as aquarium plants too!

I have 3Lfs within 20 mins of me & all have at least 2 kinds of cory

none of my lfs sell pygmy corys, they say nobody ever buys them when they bring them in

I've never seen pygmy cories in person, but I always see several types of cory in whatever LFS I go to. Cories are my favourite!

TBH though, they don't sound like a very good store, you can take your business elsewhere.

Hello, I just noticed you had a Three Spot Gourami in a 10 gallon tank. I'm a huge fan of Gouramis but they aren't suited to such a small space, they grow 4 to 5 inches long. Do you have plans to upgrade?

Yup, you can get Albinos, Bronze & Emerald just about anywhere in the Raleigh, Durham area of North Carolina. Finding Flase Juliis like I did was very rare & I've only seen a single Panda at a local store & he was gone the next day.

Aye Ruskull, the plan is a 29 gal. Not enough room for anything larger. Well I wanted a dwarf, but my wife got a three spot. Technically it's her tank, but I took it over as she was not taking care of it. Changed from gravel to sand, from plastic to live plants, and been doing daily 50% water changes to get the numbers down. Added another layer of bio to filter media. Also added bloodworms and veggies to her diet. Also took out the tri-colored ornaments. Got some egg rock making a riverbed. I know she needs a bigger tank, but I am doing what I can for now. In a couple of months Big Blue the Barbarian, has gone from a pale blue, clamped fin wretch to an outgoing, though still skittish, much richer blue, personality. She flares her fins if I pick the dog up to look in the tank. I on the other hand am only of concern at feeding time.
At the lfs I asked about pygmy corys, Smudge, to see what they'd say. I like the looks I get sometimes. You can tell alot about the place by the employees.
I also hate all the Betta owners. I saw one today at of all places WalMart. Horrid conditions, but one little guy wanted to charge through the plastic when I passed by.

A 29 gallon would be great for a single female Three Spot. You could probably add a Gold feamle to your Blue,depending on your stock of course.

Don't know, she is only third gourami i've ever had, and the first three spot. Had two dwarfs as a boy. Not entirely sold on em. Other than a group of cories, ain't thought about it.

I actually came home and considered ringing the RSPCA but I know they'd do nothing about it

Probably worth a try. A single phone call might not result in anything but if enough complaints came in about the same shop they might look into removing their licence or something.

there was also a large fantail goldfish with a massive abcess on it's side. I'm not going to name no names but I'd never ever buy fish there. The cruelty goes on and on and it's sickening. If it carries on much longer I may well put a call in to the RSPCA. Even if they do nothing about it I'll feel better

ive never been to a lfs that dont sell corys.very weird
