My aquatic plants are going to come this saturday (the 27th), and my nitrites have been at .25 since a week ago (last wed, the 17th). I was hoping to do the large water change to get rid of nitrates when I plant my plants. Will they be down in time? Tank stats: pH- 7.8, temp- 84-86, equipment- aquaclear 50, marineland penquin 150, 150 watt heater, aeroator

You gotta wait. Some times it takes up to two months to finish cycling. Hmmm.... a large water change could/might get rid of the nitrites. I don't see any harm in doing a water change.

Carefull there, remember Nitrates are your friends, :flowers: it's the Nitrites who are your enemies. Nitrates help you defeat the evil fish killing Nitrites.

Most plants are hardy. I would say do a good water cange and go ahead and put them in.

if the paramerter get out of hand, remeber the waer changes, dont put chemicals in it will delay your cycle ven more.

Okay, so Saturday, emtpy 75%, fill the tank 40-50%, plant plants, and fill the tank fully. Then just wait until nitrites are at 0, if they arn't already, until I add fish. Seems easy enough. Thanks molly and zeoth!
