Nitrate Just Tested Off The Chart!

Again, if the test is accurate, the Nitrates should come down with more water changes. I doubt the Nitrates in your tap water are that high, but you never know...

Seems like non weekly water changes could be the culprit. With a tank like that, even planted and with heavy filtration, I would still recommend a weekly water change...
 
also letting the excess waste nutrients pile up like that is what can contribute to tank crash. Things get backed up and then nitrite bacteria start dieing and then ammonia die. Not saying at all that this happened to your tank, just letting you know it can.
 
oh ok :) Keep a little notebook. Then you'll know what have done on what tank and when the last time was.

How many tanks do you have?
