Okay this is the easist thing to do in the world. Untill recently i have been turning my night lights on by my self or leaving them on 24/7. But all you need is a 220v/12v relay or 110/12 (for USA i think), they are dirt cheap! Anyway it is basicaly a switch that will turn on or off any 220 device from a 12v source.

Say you run your day lights of a timer, all you need do, is buy a 12 transformer, those small adjustable ones work well and are cheap, and plug it in with your lights, so when they're on it's on. Then you conect the 12v transformer as shown to the relay, and this relay will turn on and off your night light when your day lights go out. Because when there is power to the relay it will hold the switch open, and thus turn your N lights off, but when you D lights go off, there's no power to hold the switch open and it make contact and it really that simple.

Please excuse my drawing, i never passed grade 2 art. And any electonics store should have these parts.

Well gosh, that is a thumbs up way of doing it.

Too late for me, but others could look at the option.

Pretty cool, but check out coralifes day and night power center. It can also be used as a 15 min. wave timer. Runs around $30.00 U.S.

Wouldnt it be easyer and cheaper to just buy two timers and set them up independantly, or if you have LED's you can leave them on 24/7 because they last forever (30 years constantly running easily)

well i geus, but timers are like 20X more expensive, $15 here. and they allways loose a hour or so a month. And i enjoy the DIY approach.

This requires soldering and other wiring skills, no?

well you can solderit if you want, but i just tied the wires around the prongs, and then tapped the relay to the night light plug, nothing hectic at all.
