Hi could anyone please help me. :hyper: Although I've kept tropical fish for many years and raised lots of live bearer babies, I now have 5 day old Angel fish in a small square net tank. This was all I had availailable when they hatched. I have another tank that I set up yesterday with a small sponge filter and some filter wool wrapped in nylon so the babies won't get sucked in. The temperature is 27 degrees and there is nothing else in the tank. I have put some filter fool in the new tank which has been in the main tank for about two weeks, for an hour to try and help cycle it but everything I've read so far doesn't say when I can put these babies in the tank. The net is no good at all as the brine shrimp is just going through to the main tank and they will starve. :good:

You would have probably been better leaving them in with the parents. Angels do a very good job of raising fry... Certainly better than a human can from my experience.

Thank you for the welcome Robert and Colleen. Sorry Robert but my Clown loaches devour all my snails.
Well Minnnt they are all still alive and thriving at 4 weeks old. They hatched in a community tank so wouldn't have lasted long. I since moved the parents to their own tank when I realised I had a breeding pair and they are still breeding. Excellent parents too.

How old are your angels? Mine are just a year old and they eat the eggs every time. I don't know if they are too young, or if they just love eggs. Guess I will have to try to raise them myself next time.

Mine are about, Female 2 years, male 10 months. I don't know how many eggs they, or the other tank inhabitants, ate before they had these ones but they really are delightful parents now. I would rather leave them with the parents for about 2 or 3 weeks I think. Would be too much like hard work to do it from eggs. Are you sure you don't have two females? :)

No, they are defineately male and female. I'm just figuring they are really nervous in the community tank, so I gave them their own tank. They spawned again 3 days after they were put in their own tank. They kept the eggs for 3 days this time, but got hungry again and ate them. But they must have inspired my old angel (10 years old). He paired up with one of my Koi angels and the eggs are now 3 days old. Keeping my fingers crossed.
