Newby For Live Plants

Heyaa,
Wednesday i am going to get some new fish (3 honey gouramis) and i am planning on getting any live plants.

are there any tips for what plants to get, im fairly new to live plants and i have a 48ltr tank so i need smallish plants if that makes a difference.
is there any tips for looking for healthy plants? and what plants are the best ones?
