Hello everyone,

New to the forum, I've kept aquariums periodically from the random high school hodgepodge of guppies and other live bearers, to my goldfish tank a couple years ago. Trying to properly educate myself before I jump into a larger planted community tank. I live in western Pennsylvania, if anyone is nearby and knows a good LFS!!

Welcome!

Sadly I don't live in Pennsylvania, so I wouldn't know. :)

Welcome jag!

I live in PA, but I'm on the eastern side. So, it is tough to give you a direction. I can tell you that That Pet Place (formerly 'That Fish Place') located in Lancaster, PA offers internet sales, and they are very good. I've never purchased from them online, only in person (they are a short 2 hour drive away, and the food in Lancaster is so good) its worthwhile to make it a day trip on occasion for me.

But, I couldn't tell you of any LFS in the Western PA region. Where abouts in western PA are you located? I've got a buddy who lives in Cranberry (unfortunately not an aquarist) and I spent 3 weeks in Latrobe last summer conducting a training.

My wife works in cranberry! We live just north of butler, which is about 40 min northeast of cranberry. My wife's mom just told me about "That Pet Place", I want to visit sometime!

Yeah... its a nice store.  They have a huge pet area, with all the normal stuff.  In one 'corner' is a room for all things reptilian, etc.  There is a touch tank with freshwater rays, and there is a gigantic fish room.  In the fish room there is a 'small' room with nothing but plants (the same size, if not bigger than most LFS fish area), then there are 4 rows of tanks... all freshwater.  And then further back behind that is their salt water section.  Its just an immense place where a guy like me can get his 'fish geek' on.

If you ever find yourself in the Lancaster area, I highly recommend it.  Plan to give yourself at least an hour and half, but 2 hours is more likely, especially if you plan to check out the salty area.  My son loves it as well... its like a mini-zoo/aquarium to him.
