Hello all came across this place whilst trying to find out why three of my fish have died. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to looking after fish and have no idea why i've lost two silver sharks and one yellow gourami in the last two weeks. Both sharks had cloudy eys turned upside down and died and the gourami died overnight but looked perfect. Also the sharks started trying to jump out of the tank?.

Hi welcome to the forum! How long has the tank been set up and what kind of filtration do you have? Sounds like you might have not had a fully cycled tank. Are there any other fish in the tank at present?

hi and :hi: to the forum, its a great place to be

Along with the questions asked above, how big is the tank?

Just Newbie Questions....
Has Your Tank Been Cycled?
How Long Did This Cycle Last And How Did You Cycle?
How Big Is Your Tank?
What Kind Of Filter And How Many?
What Is In Your Tank Besides Fish As Far As Substrates (Gravel) And Plants Go?
Do You Have A Heater?

As far as jumping goes.....
i found this normal as i hear many stories of that. only way to fix it really is to have a good tight fit hood.
also were the sharks full grown or smaller (as they usually are at the store)?

Hi me again sorry not replyed sooner i've been a bit busy to say the least. Anyway my fish have cotton wool fungus according to a friend who's had fish for many years so it's off to the shop to get some treatment. It seems the disease may have come from a silver shark that was given to me by my wifes uncle and died 3 days later. Any suggestions as to what is the best course of action before I lose everything?. Thanks in advance.

Fish that live in a healthy tank don't tend to get sick very much. It could be that the silver shark brought a disease into the tank but it is definitely worth knowing a few things to rule out any other causes - youy don't want this to happen again!

1) How large is your tank?
2) How many fish did/do you have?
3) Have you had your water tested recently and if so, what were the results for ammonia and nitrite?
4) How often do you do water changes?
5) Do you isolate your fish before adding them to your main tank?
6) Do you know what "cycling" is and did you do this before adding fish to the tank?

Just some starter questions.

yes, those questions are necessary to answer your problems...pls answer it..
