Hey, this is a neat site. I spent a good part of the afternoon reading the posts. I think it is very informative. I am just getting started. I have bought a 10 gal. tank and getting ready to set it up. It has bio-filter and a heater. I have been instructed on using a water conditioner and biological filtration booster. And I will hold out for 2 weeks to buy my fish. Need to pick up a water tester.

About water, is spring water that I drink okay or better than tap water for the tank if I use the conditioner on either?

Comments on fresh water vs salt water. I had assumed that salt water would be more trouble. But after looking at this forum, I can't tell the difference.

Besides this forum/website do you have any recommended reading before I take the plunge? :)

Thanks. JJ

Hi and welcome
Its up to you but IMO if you are just starting out stick to freshwater.Saltwater fishkeeping is a lot more expensive and takes a lot more expertise.
If you ask around in these forums usually someone will have an answer/advice on any problems
good luck :D

Hi and :hi: to the TTF, what fish are you going to put in ya 10gal?

Welcome, Tap water is fine, just need to make sure you add the appropriate ingredients to the planned fish. Also 10 gallons is very small, make sure to get fish that will not need room as the grow older.
