Hi all, fairly new to fish keeping, I would still say im on the learning curve  and I'm from Glasgow, thought I would sign up and get involved, learn a bit more about the hobby. At the moment I have a 60l set up with Tiger barbs and Angel fish which I regret to say is probably badly over populated :/ , and I've just got myself a 100l tank, still not sure what I want in it but going to take my time and do it right. Do like the look of kitty tetras and gouramis though :p

Shall get some snaps of my set ups when I get a chance, so far I'm just in the middle of planting up the larger of the 2 and letting it cycle. Hopefully by the time it's ready I will have got to grips with the forum.

So hi :)

Rehome the tigers or angels.its a bad mix. Put your angels in the 100 liter, they will be much happier. And Welcome to the forum!

I wasn't sure which to move, so you reckon it's better to move the angels, when I bought them I was assured they were a dwarf breed that wouldnt exceed a few inches, but now I think I may have been duped  , but I put that down to lack of research, will move them when the larger has cycled.

However you saying they arn't a good mix they have been in the same tank for about 8 months now without a problem. Guess that's just good luck. Cheers.

So what goes well with angels? I read that they are technically cichlids? Would it be the end of them to put them in with Malawi species?

Yo were tricked. Angels get large, and there is no such thing as a dwarf variety. As soon as they get larger, the tiger barbs will nip their fins. It would not be good to put them in with malawi species. Those are African cichlids, and angels are South American cichlids. They have different water requirerments.

You will learn! I would suggest taking the barbs back, angles are much more beautiful. :good:

I actually prefer my barbs, the colouring on them has gotten extrordinary, I shall move the angels to the larger tank and find suitible tankmates for them.

Thanks for your help :)

Oh yah, forgot you were keeping the other tank. In that case, make the 100 a community, and put like 12-15 tiger barbs in the other one with lots if plants. It wil look awesome! :good:

There are only 5 barbs in the 60 and a pair of angels (male+female)but it is already heavily planted, do like the sound of having more barbs though, like the look of the green tigers, like I said I'll get some pics up when I get a sec.

Now to think what to go with the angels. I do get excited to easily :/ perhaps need to get a life

Get the 100 liter up ASAP, and nove the angels. When they get bigger, they are so majestic. I had one for 7 years that recently died, it was awesome. In the other one, and 8 regular tigers and 7 green tigers. Thatll look cool.

Looking forward to seeing pictures, your tank sounds nice. :good:

right, I've taken pictures, they are pretty poor though.

an update 1st, I've moved the angels to the 100L and got 5 more barbs :) 2 ruby and 3 green tigers

also there are now 6 flame tetras in the larger tank now too
