im getting a zebra pleco can anybody tell me what the ph/hardness and what they eat and everything else

I saw some info on them at www.liveaquaria.com.....beautiful fish! Unfortunately, I'm not about to spend $100 on one from what the above website has them priced at! Please share pics, I would love to see pics!

They eat Bloodworms, and Brine shrimp, its a very shy pleco that takes a while to get used to a tank (it has taken I think nearly two weeks for mine to appear from his cave)

Also mine took a while to start eating, I had to place bloodworms right near him using a straw method, doesn't like to fight for food like other fish.

They need a bit more TLC than most pleco's but well worth it lovely looking pleco

PH mine is 7.6

Also they prefer warmer water 79-82F but prefer nearer 82F

You'll have to make sure at that temp that oxygen level's in tank are okay and that your other fish are okay at that temp

Good luck

Are you sure that's what you are getting?

With a fish that expensive, you might want to do more reseach than asking on here. Maybe you could pm Alien_Spawn as he just got one. Also, Planet Catfish is good for things like ph etc, there's also forums where you can ask questions as well.

Thats right planet catfish is a great site to use for technical info such a ph and temp

The only advice i can give you on feeding is that zebras are carnivores ( they have teeth) so as mentioned earlier you must feed them bloodworms, mussels etc rather than expecting them to eat algae

They do not compete well for food :( so i use tweesers to trow the food in thier general direction before they will eat which can be a pain

Oh yeh and ive been feeding the fish every other day for a while now after taking advice from other owners and they seem very healthy and have lost a lot of their shyness

Hope this helps matey
