Hmm :\ I don't really want it as floating. I'll weigh down the roots then, if somehow. So.. where would I trim it if I attempted to keep it down? (Even if it's floating, I would need to trim it anyways, right?)

Trim from the top most leaves. Now, you can keep both cuttings.

The cutting with the intact tip will continue growing as a single stem. The cut clipping with grow two stems from the node below the cut and the result will be more branching.
