New Versus Old Filter

Good Evening All,

I decided a while back to rip out my Juwel filter (Rio240) and go with a Eheim proII 2026 canister.
I've setup my Eheim tonight , how long should I run the 2 filters together before I can take out the Juwel internal?

It would depend on the flow rate of the 2 filters. If the new filter has a higher flow rate than the other, then the bacteria would colonize on it quicker (more food passing through). Usually about 4 weeks should work though.

You should be pretty safe after 4 weeks as mentioned above.

if you can seed it with some mature media from the juwel it will speed it up a bit

I'll see if i can cut up a sponge or two from the Juwel filter and put in the ehiem on the weekend when I do a water change.
