Hi all,

Very new to the tropical fish scene. Got given quite a large tank with an eheim 2217 filter.

My question was:
- What kind of fish are these (see image)
- How much to feed them? We give them a pinch of pellets, is that enough for all 3 fish?

Cheers - great forum by the way.

Thanks,
Ozzie

They look like they are part of the Cichlid family. I'm not very good at knowing exactly what fish are what by looking at them. Maybe someone else can further educate you. Nice fish btw!

As far as feeding, As a general rule, Feed only what they can eat in 2 minutes and net out the rest of the food as it will create ammonia in the tank.

Welcome to the forum as well!!

The orange coloured ones are some kind of Red Devil (Hybrids probably), the grey one, not sure, looks to be Central American though. Where abouts in Australia are you? They look like what comes out of the Hazelwood pondage in Vic.

Ah interesting. I'm from Northern Melbourne, so yeah you're probably spot on :)

The big one in the middle looks like a Mayan Cichlid I think but could be one of a few maybe a Hogaboomorum? I think the front orange one is Red Bay Snook and the back one like Choices said is some kind of Midas/Red Devil - I think the hybrids are being called a Midevil :)

Red Bay Snook
Doubt it, eye colour looks wrong and it doesn't have an underbite.

The big grey one definately does look like some kind of Amphilophus.
