Hi can anyone help me. Im new to tropical fish keeping, my tank is 36 x 12 x 15 i have done my homework and introduced fish at a slow pace allowing my filter to start properly. However i think i have made a big mistake. I allowed my child to purchase a tropical frog for the tank. I think that it is an african clawed frog because it is albino and according to information there arent any albino african dwarf frogs. i think it has eaten about 4 fry already! What can i do? The man in the pet shop forgot to mention that it would eat my fish! i have moved what is left of the fry into a special tank so the frog will not eat them.

Please could anyone offer advise in simple terms as i am not experienced.

:hi: to the forum

I am not sure about frogs, I know many people keep them though so I am sure you'll be able to get some help. Maybe in the amphibians section. I think that most fish will eat the fry

Your tank is about 23UK/27US gallons or 104litres.

Hi barclay :)

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

An African Clawed Frog can be a fine pet, but he cannot be kept with small fish. They have large mouths and can, and will, consume anything that will fit in it. The only thing you can do is house him separately, perhaps with another of his kind.

Please click on the link in my signature to read a thread with lots of information and links about them.

We are getting quite a few frog keepers on the forum, and I look forward to reading your posts in the Invertebrates + Amphibians Forum. :D

:hi: barclay! Good luck with your remaining fry and deciding what to do with your ACF

I have an albino ACF,and when i hand feed him he clamps onto my fingers and I've had to physically remove him before. They will try to eat anything, whether it be extremely large or bite size.

Welcome to the forums, glad to have you around! :)
