well i have a 70l tank and have just started to stock it

currently i have
2 sailfin pleco's
1 pleco i dont know what it is (green with yellow spots)
4 rainbow fish
5 black phantom tetra's
5 rabaras
3 horsefaced loaches
3 pygmy cories
pair honey guarmi's

the stock is about 3 weeks old

giving some time for the next batch of fish and was looking for some ideas for a pair of larger fish to finish it off

thought i would say hi

Hallo Emmit & welcome..... It seems that you are already stocked beyond your limits..... When you talk about "the next batch" coming in..... did you put up a 2nd tank??

no i have

3 more corries comming
some more loaches
maybe a couple of pleco's depending on what i find

and was wanting a pair of fish like the jack dempseys or similar that are comapatible with the others just to finish the tank off

Huh!!??.... Verrrrry few fish are compatible with Jack Dempseys....... are you saying that you wanna put 'em in this tank with your Honey Gouramies and Rasborras (& the rest)..... Sorry... maybe I'm not understanding... do you have 2 tanks or are all of these going into the 1 x 70l???....

i know they are a bit naughty but i was looking for fish that are similar size wise for this tank yes all in the same tank ???

I will recommend that you reconsider..... (but I still think you're pulling my leg)..... Talk to your LFS and have him/her recommend fish for you.

i did talk to the fish shop and they said i coudnt have a jd due to the incompatabilty of the other fish so i was asking if their are fish similar to them but not as aggresive

Emmit... I'm talking about overstocking..... a 70l would not accommodate all those fish you're suggesting..... at a push, it is already suspect for the number of fish you currently have in there.....

i copied the post in the other thread should read 70g not 70l sorry about the confusion

how do you mean ?

because i am looking for fish similar to a jd size wise or because i made a mistake on the initial post ?

you are not too far from me i have not long ago moved to cornwall hence the screen name

ok Emmit.... does make a difference, but Dempseys are'nt merely "naughty"..... they are downright aggressive & will kill most of your other fish..... You need to do more research before finalising your selection...... else you're gonna pay a lot for "schoolfees".....

i think you are misunderstanding what i am trying to say (or i am not saying it correctly)

i dont want jack dempsey's in my tank due to the aggression (i used naughty as forgot the word as i was typing)

i was looking for similar sized fish which would be happy in a community tank with my current stock

now i understand most cichlids are a no go but i have heard some are more tollerent than others

Sorry if I offended
Angels are a peaceful(ish) cichlid not quite the same as JD but a lovely fish :shifty:

the only thing i know about angels is they tend to be a bit teritorial especialy when spawning and i have seen a pair force the rest of their tank mates to the other side of the tank (somthing i didnt really want tbh)

no offence taken

i suppose their is a happy medium some where
