Hi folks,Yes i am new to this hobby.A brief desciption of my tank is as follows an all glass aquairiums 29 gallon tank, penguin 200 bio-wheel filter+small airstone
stock---5 neon tetras
4 bloodfin tetras
4 scissortail rasbora (who dont mind the zippy bloodfins)
4 panda cories
2 peppered cories
1 comon plec--possible punctatus or pardalis not quite sure about him/her
You might think im overstocked but the filtration does keep up quite well and all are happy and healthy!!
only 2 deaths since startup 1 bloodfin and 1 neon :(
I must say that my plec is one impressive fish when he/she decides to "set sail" my god what a huge dorsal!!
will try to get photos of this fish for ID if anyone would like to give it a shot...
BTW been running since may of this year

common plecs will grow to be very big, if you feed them, they stay small if you do not feed them and you let them eat the alge.

yep - I think the other name for this method is starvation

Sorry to OP - welcome aboard :good: I have 2 common plecs - rescues from awful conditions - they are wonderful looking fish - mine are disjunctivus - they are wonderful - shame I wont be able to keep them long here's a pic of one of them - pics of Alan

I would never starve a fish as cool as he is just to keep him small and "stunted" thats just wrong. he will have a good home when he gets to big for his britches!!! -_-

Or you could just go out and buy a huuuuge tank and keep him :hyper:

Welcome aboard! Soon you will be as crazy as the rest of us

Hey thats a great idea!! get a 150 gallon tank and build a house around it!!oooooo I wish I wish.OOOH BTW i am crazy already I never thought to be a fishkeeper but the lil guys grow on ya so fast ya just cant help it!!

Honestly it doesn't sound too overstocked except for the pleco problem that has already been discussed. I wouldn't suggest adding anything else, but that's just to because the more fish there are, the greater the risk of potential disaster.

If I had only known then what I know now -_- "Mr james" will eventualy have to go but in the meantime we will enjoy each others company!!Also folks this is a pretty decent site and glad to be a part of it to find and share info in this hobby...cheers to all

I agree he will get HUGE!!! at this point though he is only 4" of body length 6 if i count the tail so I think he has a lil ways to go.That is why I was thinking maybe another 6 months in my tank roughly.

The only thing I will say for the plec is they are so adorable that you will not want to part with him/her.

I still need courage to part with mine, but they need almost a swimming pool full of water and perhaps more. I wish.

Bala sharks and Clown Loaches are the same.

Tis sad.

ban them from the trade i say....

but lets not start an argument, dont like what i say? pm me :)

we need fts
