Actually, there are quite a few members here that have 6 foot tanks, in which case a common plec won't be a problem at all. The ones I'd like to see banned are the red-tail catfish- very few people have massive indoor ponds.

It can be a problem on the size issue but one would think the lfs would think of the animal before the sale and to actually ask a customer what size their tank was..but of course this is not a "perfect world".Not everyone have the resources of the net to do all of the research needed on some fish.Not to blame the lfs but it would have been nice for a little direction in choices for a newbie as far as adult sizes go
