Just to say hi to everyone here on the forum and look forwards to learning much and sharing my own future experiences.
I currently have a 1 Blue Acara, 2 geo's, 3 silver dollars, 1 Rope fish, 3 bleeding hears, 2 fire mouths,2 blockheads, 1 flying fox and 1 Red Oscar (aka Krom.) They all get on very well together with the blockheads ruling. There is a platy and 2 penguin tetras waiting for a new home.

:hi: to the forum, Rob :)

I hate to be negative to you, on your first post, but...it's great that all your fish are getting on, but that's probably not going to last, I'm afraid. Some of your fish are much more aggressive than others, and they will pick on the more peaceful ones at some point, especially as they reach sexual maturity.

You also have a mixture of fish that like hard water and fish that need it soft, so some aren't going to do well, depending on whether your water is hard or soft.

My water is the ph of my water is below 7 and I was told by my fish shop was best for the cichlids. I'm hoping to get the tank down to the Acara, fire mouths, oscar, geo's , dollars, rope fish and block heads although I know they are a African but they have been breeding. Does that look to be a better mix
Sorry about my English trying to type and feed my son.

I would say that's too many cichlids for one tank, TBH. How big is your tank?

600 litres
I was told by the fish store that more can be better when it comes to territorial fish.
Obviously without over stocking.

Sorry, but i do agree with Fluttermoth regarding the stocking :/

Anyway, hope you enjoy the Forum and glad to have you on board.

I also hate being negative but along with the issues mentioned above you have some fish that need groups of 6+ (the tetras and silver dollars). The rope fish prefer buddies as well.

Do you have any pictures of the tank though? And

to the forum, hope you enjoy it here! I hope you know we mention things because we care and are not trying to pick on you or anything.

Hi

to TFF!

Hate to add to this but i concur rope fish prefer 2 or more buddies of the same species.

What geos do you have? All geos need a group of 6 or more, as they are quite gregarious and can be somewhat aggressive and timid without other geos.

The silver dollars should have a few more in the group as well.

I suspect your oscar is still young because you have guppies and tetras still alive in the tank, that oscar may grow up and harass everything in the tank, they are quite unpredictable some can be absolute charms with other fish and some will kill everything...

I'm trying to get a photo on but for some reason the file is too big. The geo's are altos and seem to have grouped with the dollars. Will defo put pictures on today.

Finally a picture

Hi Rob. This is only my second post. First one not approved yet that I see. Not experienced with forums. Anyhow, fish store is correct in the more you can stalk, the less any ONE fish will be picked on. However, if they are all aggressive and they can't have their territory, they will always fight. Throw zebra danios in there. They are quick and always moving and cheap. That'll give your others something else to chase. African Cichlid experience here.

Thanks for the advice Jerry I love fish and am a fast learner. I look forwards to conversing with you all.
