Hi germanshepherdlver :)

Since you are planning on getting corys, why not think about putting in a sand bottom? The corys love it and although it takes a bit of time to wash it until it is silt free, it is well worth the effort. Play sand, which is the most commonly used is very inexpensive too, so you can use the money saved to buy other things.

Since corys need a cave, you could think about buying a small piece of slate and setting it, as a roof, on top of 3 rocks. Just be sure to file down any sharp edges the slate might have. This is natural looking and works out well because it can easily be taken apart at cleaning time.

Plants are nice and can either be planted or potted. If you like the color of terra cotta posts, go that route. The advantage there is that it makes it easy to clean around them or just change the appearance of the tank from time to time.

Corys are perfect community tank citizens and get along with all kinds of other peaceful fish. I've had good luck keeping glowlight tetras, glass catfish, otos, kuhli and weather loaches, blind cave tetras, platties, guppies, gouramis and bettas, and other similar fish with them. :D
