New Tank

hi all
hope you can help.. just been given a new tank today ( second hand ) about 100l .
when i went for it , it was an absoulote disgrace , the water was black. was never looked after ( was an old person who couldnt look after it ). i emptyed it and it stunk . had about 25 fish in it , got it all home cleand out to best in short space of time i had . put some water out of my other tank , but used filters off this tank , fresh water etc , sorry now for question

not sure what fish i got at moment barring 3 big plecs. does anyone think they will survive the tank was in a terrible state , i no it will be work in progress over next few weeks , because was a mad rush .

any advice would be helpfull , being honest am expecting some to die ( hope not )

The stress will obviously be a factor in it, but i see no reason why they wouldn't survive, especially if they have survived in what you described! The 3 Plecs sound like they may need rehoming though, especially in a 100 litre tank.

Did you rinse the filters or just put them back in the tank?

i rinsed the filters couldnt leave them as they was.

all fish seem ok at mo but think it will be time will tell .

will see if can re home plecs thou
if anyone wants them let me no

After such a major cleaning make certain to test the water every 12 hours and do water changes accordingly. A good test kit is priceless in these situations. From here on out go slow on the cleaning doing a portion at a time. Good luck.

hi

24hrs on still got all fish ( touch wood ) , just got a new air pump today see if that helps . will prob do water change tomorrow , all fish seem very livly now
