I recently salvaged this type of tank from my cousin
The one I have is a bit shorter but wider than this one but its that sort of thing. It was a bit battered and very very dirty but it's not too bad now its all cleaned up. Little bit scratched up but ok. I'm planning on using it as a quarantine tank for the time being but might end up moving a few fish about and giving the betta his own tank. I've filled it and added a few plant trimmings from my other tanks and put the fliter sponge into my goldie tank to get some bacteria colonised on it.
I have two questions, the first being how long should I leave the filter media in the goldie tank before it'll be safe to use for treating my betta for finrot?
And two, if I did want to swap fish about and use it as a permanent home for someone, I'd want to add a light to the lid. Has anyone ever added a light to this sort of tank before? It's a bit of an awkward shape. How would be the best way to go about it?
