Hallo, my mom bought me a new tank for my birthday, Fish R Fun 160litre (cant find a link anywhere)

he tank is cool, but the problem is the filter, it's too noisy, it's a HOB filter i think, i cant sleep with it on, but i cant turn it off becuase all the bacteria would die, anyone know how i could make it more tolerable? thanks

What type of filter is it?

You could also buy another one and run the 2 at the same time for a month - transfer the media then remove the noisy one.

is it noisy because of the motor noise or noisy from the water falling back into the tank? the motor can only be remedied by doing as Martyn said, transfering the media over to a new filter... but the water noise can be alleviated by keeping the level in your tank higher, if you keep it below the top molding of the glass.

the filter is pretty good so i am reluctant to replace it, it's built into the tank, and noisey bcuase of water falling and the engine
