New Tank ! Super Excited ! I Love Ebay

Hi Bloo

I know exactly how excited you are as the new tank we got is a Rena Aqualife Classic 150 x 50. We have 2 of the Rena Filstar xp3 filters and so far so good - they seem super efficient - after gravel, wood and water went in they cleared the water a treat within several hours! They are huge and can fit plenty of filter media plus they are extremely quiet.

Incidentally, can anyone tell me how many gals mine is as all the calculators I have used give me different answers. It is 480 litres 5ft long, 3ft high and 2ft wide.

You jammy get! I would have bid on that if i'd known it was there.

Mind you, I don't think my poor floor boards could cope with another large tank.

:kana: it was pure luck that I saw it. I had an autosearch saved on eBay for "Juwel Rio 300" – but over the past few months nothing within the London area appeared.
For some odd reason last week I decided to just do a manual all tank London search and that one came up.
Don' t tell the seller, but I would have happily paid more ;)

Pics please, from start to finish would be great!! :good:
Will do ! :D

Thanks a lot Bex – great to hear your filter experience too.
If you check out this link – it will show you that your tank has a total volume of 543 litres (143 US gallons / 120 UK) but a useful volume of 480 litres (127 US gallons / 106 UK gallons).
PS: still haven't managed to get to WST yet to ask about that death, but when I get a chance to go next, I definitely will :)

Excellent, cheers Bloo!

Been very confused over how many gals I got. I thought 120 Uk gals and was thinking WOW!! Loads of room! But the useful gallons is actually what I should work on for my stocking ratio! That clears up a lot of confusion in my little brain!! LOL!

Hope all goes well with your tank and would love to see some piccies. We're snapping ours from start to finish but it's not my camera so I have to get my friend to upload, so will post em when I can! Can't wait to see! :hey:

Oh and thanks in advance about asking at WTS when you get the chance!! :good:

Picked up my new tank today ! :D
I kept thinking it's all going to be a joke and there's going to no tank or something. This was from a brand new eBay seller with zero feedback. But the lovely man was there waiting for us - ever so kind and very helpful :)

Here's the best bit: Though the tank is under a year old, it's actually only been used 3 months ! :hyper: and been standing empty for the past 9. The owner was a business man and probably couldn't be fussed to deal with algae and cleaning etc.

We to hire a little van because we have no car - and no mates with a car large enough to take this massive thing. The thing is ginormous (well to me anyway) and rock solid massively sturdy with 10mm glass
My Juwel tank is a far cry from this on in terms of quality in my opinion. I love the height on it, but that made it so much more tricky to move - but it's done - phew!

Now it just has to stand empty for the week while I wait for my two other tanks to sell so that I can move inhabitants across next weekend. So next weekend I'll start a thread over in the photo section :D.

Congratulations on your mega-bargain.. if only I was so lucky with online auctions. :p Can't wait to see pictures, would be great to see them in stages, and if you could keep posting new pics as time went by! :)

jeez Bloo sounds like you got lucky with the tank. ebay turns up some great priced tanks but that seems the best i have heard.
