Hi all. As I nearing the end of my fishless cycle, it will be time to stock soon, and I was interested if anyone has any insight/opinion of my stocking plan? It's a 200L, planted tank. At first I was planning a SE Asian tank, but as i started the beginning of my cycle, I changed my mind to A South American tank. It basically goes like this:

apistogramma cacatuoides (a trio)
bristlenose pleco pair
pterophyllum scalare x 6
cardinal tetras (not sure how many would be good? Was thinking 20?)
marble hatchets - about 6 or so.

thoughts?

I think you might be leaning towards overstocked, angelfish grow big. I'd go with either a pair of angels or fewer cardinal tetras.

I would be fine with a pair of angels, if that would be okay with them? I was just under the impression that they should be in a bit larger of a group?

Does your tank have a lid?
Hatchets like to jump, and have a tendency to go carpet surfing.

Unless they pair up then you should keep one or a group of six or more (as you said) :good:

Depending on the dimensions of your tank, and if you can get a pair, then you should be ok.

^^ This; two random angels are very unlikely to pair up. You could always grow on a group of youngsters until they mature, keep a pair and sell on/rehome the others.

I do have a lid as I am aware that hatchet's do jump. I have kept them in the past. And yes, unless I can find an established pair of angels, I do know that it's unlikely a pair of juveniles will automatically pair up. I was planning on adding any angels and cardinals last anyways, as I know that the cardinals really need an established tank (from what I have read.) The tank is a Fluval Roma, so it's 100 x 40 x 55 cm.

So, in the scenario that I can find a pair of angels, how many cardinals would be a good number?

I was just going to post about Hatchets being jumpers...... :good:

So, I ended up putting fish in on Monday, and so far have added a trio (1 male/2 female) of apistogramma cacatuoides, which are doing great in the tank. The females are tiny right now, anyone know what they usually max out at? I also got an albino bristlenose pleco, and I was wondering if I should get another or just keep the single one? Planning on adding the hatchets in a week or two, providing they are in stock at the time, and the cardinals a few weeks later. Still hoping a pair of angels will fall into my lap in another month or so.
