Ok I am thinking ahead now, to maybe in 6 months time. I have worked out that if I get rid of one of the 3 seater sofas in the living room (it's ok I have 3 of them) I can get a nice 6 x 2 x 2 tank in the bay window.

I was thinking of building a plywood cabinet which would shirld the tank from the light and perhaps having a smaller tank underneath which I would use for conditioning water for water changes. I would use an external filter with several vales which could then pump the water out of the main tank and into the drain the otherside of the bay window.

I was thinking of moving the clown loach, silver sharks and the plecs out of my Trigon 190 into this tank and getting some more clown loaches.

What else do you think I should put in there?

A few Big Angels, couple of Severums, a Festivum, pair of kissing gouramis, a little group of hoplos

Or maybe keep to asian theme, so Large barbs like torpedos, filament, arulius, then a trio of Gold, opaline, kissing, pearl Gouramis, a few flying fox,

Or maybe an Oscar, EBJD, a few Bichirs, a ghost knife perhaps, Fire Eel, etc etc.

Lol I could go on and on

Hmmm, maybe I should put a 5 x 2 x 2 under the main tank then I can even more fishies!!! maybe a malawi themed tank.

Angels would be nice

I already have one Angel in the Trigon, so I could do that......

Is it really a good idea to place the tank near the window? I know you said you'd build the cabinet in a way so the tank is shielded from the light, but depending on how much it's shielded you could still be exposing it to a fair amount. And then if the tank is substantially shielded, would that defeat the purpose of the window?

As for what to stock it with, it really depends on what type of fish currently interest you.

Its the only place I can put it, it is a clear area, no radiators etc.

There are a lot of tanks that are in cabinets with only the front glass showing so there will nt be a problem with light as it will be under my control. I will probably end up experimanting with LED lighting as I feel that this is the way forward in the hobby

well i know what i would add but my idea's are not every one's cup of tea, that's a great size tank to play with

So what would you put in there Nelly?

let me just say on word, channa :shifty:

Lol I should have known

I am actually now thinking I will put a 5 x 2 x 2 under the other tank!!! I am toying with maybe getting some Steatocranus Irvinei, the unusual ones with the blue lips, I only know of one other person in the UK who keeps these.
