If it's the colour of shuunkins you like, platies might be a good choice.

As for temperature, the best way is to look up the requirements of the actual fish species. Most are happy around 23-26C, some require higher temperatures, some (like danios) are happier in the lower range.

I just googled platies... oh wow! :D I love the silvery reddish colours that some of them have.
What is a good species to keep with platies?
 
Mollies and platys are great. Get more girls than boys. Later on add different kinds of tetras and maybe some easygoing barbs (not tigers) and a cleanup crew

the most important factor when choosing fish is to make sure they are all really flipping cooool!
