Well got my new tank on monday been at my grans until today so i got to rumage around in the box tonight finally :D

Its a Fluval Duo Extra its just the Fluval Duo Deep 1200 (48"x18"x15" 54 Uk Gallons) except instead of gettin a fluval 4+ internal ...

You get a Fluval 305 external :D *rubs hands together*

Got it for 125 pounds cheaper than I should but thats another story !

In the Box the you get a bottle of ... Nutrafin Plant Gro :S Any of you guys used this before ? and if so is it good ?

Or will I have to purchase additional ferts ? As this is going to be fully planted tank with c02 and laterite bottom and around 2 wpg of lighting :D

And could somebody give me the name of the small vallis like plant ? Just looks exactly like Vallis but shorter! Ive seen it called Vallis Nana but i would appreciate the scientific name if possible !

Ill try and find a picture of it to help

Thanks alot in advance

Richie

Sounds like a nice little (or big!) project. So you going fully high light hey?

Excellent work on the external filter, much better.

I take it you're going to do EI? If so get a better fert, either the tropica plant nutrition or seachem flourish, they are the best. Also get a better substrate, laterite is ok but it only really adds iron, if you want a base layer rather than the more expensive complete substrates, get the tropica one, it's still relatively new, but no doubt its excellent and it doesn't effect the water chemistry. If however you've got cash to splash seeing as its a new tank ADA aquasoil is an option, as is eco-complete both of which are great, but these affect the water chemistry, which aint a problem just something to be aware off.

Small vall is Vallisneria nana.

Thanks alot Sam !

Ok well i guess ill have a look on Aquaessentials then ?

I dont have an awful lot of money im just 16 soo not alot at all !

Ive calculated the plants ill start with ..

25 Java Fern

25 Java moss

25 Hairgrass

25 Vallis Torta (sm)

10 Vallis Torta (lrg)

They will be be from Java Plants !

They will be getting used in another tank of mine ! I know it looks alot lol but i have my reasons ! it only comes to around 30 pounds that lot :D

Also will be getting some Riccia to create carpets on slate around 4 cups to start with from Aquarium Plants ! and some short hairgrass from another company !

All in all plants are about 50 quid maybe

Im thinking of taking some of them out ! And if anyone could give me and idea of portion sizes that the sites i have mentioned give out i would be very grateful !

Thanks alot

Richie
