New Tank Journal

Looks brilliant mate, i wish i had painted my RiO240 before filling it up and moving in next to the wall!!!

Are you having a planted tank too? Should be plenty of room for them.

Yeah, but not too heavily. Just to ward off algae mostly, it's only just over 1WPG. The 50/50 mix of gravels turned out well, the fine gravel is really more of a coarse sand so plants should manage quite well.

This is the first time I've painted one and I'm loving it!

Thats going to look real nice., Your spending all that money on this stuff when you could of got a better tv lol, only joking

o and btw what car is that i can see the backend of?, looks like some kind of muscle car?

'65 Mustang

My dad's long term project. It's been driving since we got it, but all the stuff we've done to it have pushed it's value up about 15k. Custom sway bars, shift kit, A/C, ABS, leather dash, free flowing twin exhaust, etc.

Did you build the stand?! Can you build me one! lol

sorry im forgetting this is a fish thread

Back to the tank, it looks great, when you get some plants in there it will look nearlly as good as the car -_- .................... :sly:

keep us updated mate :good:

Haha! I wish I'd built it! Cost me $320 :(

Anyway, only updates so far are the last coat of lacquer (pics soon) and I painted the wall behind where it's going to sit.

Decided I want some Emerald-eye Rasboras to

Anyway, all is well with it. I may get a new TV one day :shifty:

Can't wait for pictures, love NW cichlids.

EDIT: Just a quick point, 48"x18"x20" is about 62 imperial gallons/75 USG

Looking good  .The sev may become to big for the tank, although its unlikely its still possible. The amazon swords, vallis, hygrophila polysperma, and crypts will probably become food for the sev as they enjoy their greens.
You shouldn't get any algae with under 1 wpg but if you go with plants I should think you may have to feed them occasionally, and if anything this would create algae...Unless you have loaddds of them.

Yeah, I'm seriously doubting he will but if it does happen I'll just sell him :p

I've got some liquid plant food I use in my other tanks with good results and it's a 0 phosphate formula so it's quite good for keeping algae down. But the BN and SAE's should take care of any excess.

My gold severum in my other tank never touches my plants. I feed him vege flake and algae wafers though...

Beautiful tank!

A bit off topic and a stupid question...what's the reason for soaking the driftwood in tea? ????

Alrighty got the plants in, now the wait :(

Will probably add more plants, but for now this is all I want.

It's 2x green rush, 1x vallisneria, 1x Anubias hybrid, 1x crypt, 1x amazon sword.
